Inspiration for priesthood
: St. Mary Church, Hempstead, TX , when Msgr. Borski was in High School, a new pastor was assigned – it was Fr. Al Raye’s first assignment as a pastor. The new pastor was interested in the youth of the parish and began the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). As a youth, Msgr. Borski was active in the CYO at the parish level and the deanery level and eventually was elected as president of the diocesan CYO. In one of their trips to Houston for a diocesan level meeting, Fr. Raye said: “Chester, have you ever thought of being a priest?” That question began a two-year discernment process for Msgr. Borski. In 1960 he entered the seminary. In thinking back, Msgr. Borski said that his pastor was easily approachable, involved in the total parish life and especially involved with the teens. Msgr. Borski saw his pastor as happy and fulfilled in serving the Church. As a young adult, Msgr. Borski could see himself using his talents in a similar way.
Since he cannot eat red meat --- then another favorite is Chicken Scaloppini.
