Monsignor Borski extends an invitation to you to attend an exciting event that is planned for the evening of April 20 centered on poverty & Christianity, entitled Poverty- A Call to Action. St Martha has partnered with First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, Holy Comforter Lutheran Church and Strawbridge United Methodist Church to organize this event that is open to the public.
The event will be a town hall format, where we will have panel members from 5 different non-profit organizations that work to address issues related to poverty. They represent efforts that are occurring locally, in the Houston area and internationally, and will share interesting facts around poverty, frame up the basis for our roles as Christians, talk about approaches to alleviating poverty (what is working, what is not) and also how people can get involved. They will also take questions from the audience, so this will be a nice interactive evening.
Between 10- 12 organizations that are active in poverty-related work will have tables set up with information so that attendees can walk around after the panel concludes and learn about the wonderful work of these organizations, and explore ways that they can join in their efforts.
