The Kolbe Prison Ministry was founded in 2009 in the Texas Hill Country as an offshoot of ACTS Mission. The purpose is to fulfill Jesus’ command to visit those in prison. Men from St. Martha began participating in the ministry with other parishes in 2017 and began our own parish ministry in 2019. The ministry leads three-day retreats in two prison units in Huntsville, Texas. In addition, we have men who regularly visit our brothers to continue bringing the love of Christ to them.
The Kolbe Prison Ministry is named for St. Maximilian Kolbe, who was a Polish priest who gave up his life in Auschwitz to save the life of another prisoner. He is the patron saint of prisoners, drug addicts, families, and the pro-life movement.
Participation is open to any man in the parish who has been on an ACTS retreat.
